This weekend we wanted to get away but then remembered that we have a dog and no one close by to watch him so Gizmo pretty much decided our plans. We headed south to West Palm Beach and found that the DoubleTree Hotel allowed dogs. It was a beautiful hotel with a nice pool that had cabanas with sofas poolside and a hot tub. They also had a grotto style pool bar with yummy margaritas :-). Putting Addison to bed that night was a challenge. She always does great at bedtime. We just put her in her crib and she's goes right to sleep. Since her pack and play was about 5 feet from the bed she could see us through the netting and kept saying "Hi" everytime we looked at her. Finally at 9:45p we turned out the lights and it was bedtime for everyone. Since she went to bed so late and the hotel had the room darkening curtains she slept until 8:15a which is unheard of! She's up every morning at 6:30a. Of course I couldn't enjoy the extra sleep because the dog was begging to go outside. Then room service arrived with breakfast which was delicious!!
The first afternoon that we arrived we asked the concierge at the hotel if there were any good local seafood places to eat at and if there were any parks or areas to explore. We went to Juno Beach and Jupiter Beach then at the advice of the concierge went to the Food Shack for dinner. The name suites it well because it looked like a little shack located in a shopping plaza...but don't judge a book by it's cover because the food was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!
On Sunday we went to the Lion Country Safari. This place was also pet friendly and had dog kennels. So off Gizmo went to the kennels for the day while we explored the park. The park includes a drive through safari and also a walk through amuesement park with a Spalsh Zone water area. When we arrived it was raining but it was a quick 10 minute shower and the rest of the day was beautiful and HOT!!

They give you a CD to listen to during your drive which explains the different parts of the park and the different animals. The drive through safari took close to an hour.
Ostriches were everywhere through out the park and would come right up to the vehicles.

Brian broke this rule constantly. He thought it would be funny to open the windows when the animals approached the vehicle...just to scare me.

That ended the drive through part of the safari. We then parked and went into the amusement park area.
Addison thought the goats in the petting zoo were pretty funny. She kept sticking her hand out and when they would put their nose on her hand she'd start giggling.
It was so Hot out so we changed Addison into her swimsuit and spent the rest of the afternoon at the Splash park.
After a long day at the park she passed out in the vehicle on the way home with her hand still stuck in her snack container. So precious!!
