Long Week...

Last week I traveled to Delaware for business. I was originally supposed to be there Tuesday-Friday but got stuck in the big snowstorm and my flight out Friday was cancelled so I wasn't able to get home until Saturday. A couple of the pictures below were from when the snow first started to come down.

I missed Addison so much. It's the second time I've traveled on business since Addison's been born and it was much harder leaving her this time.

Today we took Addison to the park. She had so much fun on the swings but wasn't sure about the slide.
If February had 29 days she would be 10 months tomorrow!!

First time Brushing Teeth

I figured since Addison is working on her third tooth that it's time to start brushing. I used the Baby Orajel Toothpaste and finger brush. Addison really liked having her teeth clean. I think the motion and pressure on her gums felt good to her because she did her whiney cry when I stopped...lol. I'm going to try and do this everynight after her bathtime.

Speaking of bathtime, last night was her first bath in over a week that she didn't cry. What I did differently...I bathed her a 1/2 hour earlier so she wouldn't be as tired and instead of shampooing her hair first then play I let her play first and shampooed last.

Valentine's Weekend 2010

We had a great Valentine's weekend!! Addison got some new beach toys from Daddy and a Woodland friends animal tree house from Nana and Grampy. She also has a new tooth that's coming in on the top!

Saturday evening we ordered take out from The Patio. We heard good things about it and our food was delicious. Since it was getting late we decided on the take out because it's not as easy as it once was dining out with a little one. Since we are still new to the area we decided on Sunday to try another local place for lunch. Addison did well at the restaurant. She played with and tried to eat crayons, played with ice cubes, threw everything on the floor just so we could pick it up for her to throw again, and ate oyster crackers, steamed squash and zuchinni for the first time. She liked everything and didn't spit anything out.

After lunch we headed to the Manatee Observation and Education Center. It was a small little center with some aquariums in it...nothing too exciting but still fun to be out and about exploring new places.

We've also been having as I call it "Battle with Bathtime" lately. Addison has always loved bathtime but starting last week for some reason she hates it. She'll be in the water for only a minute and be pulling up on the side reaching for me to pull her out and crying the entire time. I've checked her for any sort of rash that maybe the water was irritating and I haven't switched soaps, so I don't know what is causing this. It started Monday but at first I just blamed it on her being tired but she continued to do it everynight and then on Thursday she started crying the minute I put her in the tub. I took the advice of some of my mommy friends-this weekend I switched her baths to the morning instead of evening and I also got in the tub with her...nothing has worked yet. I'm hoping this is a phase that will pass quickly. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know!

Mommy Poll

I have a great group of online friends. The other day one of my friends posted a poll that I thought had great questions. Here are my responses:

Did you breastfeed? If so for how long? Yes, for 9-10 weeks

Did/do you cloth diaper? No

What brand of diapers have worked best for you? Pampers swaddlers worked great for the newborn and size 1, then switched to Target brand, now back to Pampers Cruisers

When did you start solids? Cereal at 4 months, Stage 2 foods at 6 months and now at 9 months starting Stage 3 foods, gerber snacks and tastes of table food.

What has been your baby's favorite food? Stage 3 Lasagna

Did you get professional maternity pics? Pro newborn pics? No. Yes.

Did you find out what you were having? Will you in the future? Yes. Undecided

What has been the biggest surprise about motherhood? How much love I have for her. Realizing she's the only blood relative I've ever known is very bittersweet for me. I love seeing the different mannerisms she's picked up from either Brian or myself...it's so funny. I love pillows and blankets and when you put her around pillows or blankets she seriously gets the biggest smile, starts laughing and does face plants into the pillow repeatedly...lol.

Biggest surprise about labor and delivery? How easy it was, how high of a pain tolerance I had. How much down time there was between being admitted and delivery.

Are you a working mom or Stay At Home Mom? I will soon be a part time work from home mom!

How far along were you when you had the baby? 2 days before her due date.

Did you have a hard time coming up with or agreeing on names? We both agreed on a boys name, but went through a couple girls names before agreeing.

Did you plan to getting pregnant a certain time of the year? Did that work out? No. N/A

Any advice for the pregnant ladies? Don't sweat the small stuff. Your house doesn't have to be spotless, the laundry doesn't have to be folded right now, the dishes can sit in the dishwasher a little bit longer...spend all the time you can with your babies. Nap when your babies nap because you'll need the extra energy in the beginning for the sleepless nights. When friends and family offer to help out with cooking/housework-take them up on their offer, that way you'll be able to spend precious time with your baby. Don't critize your husband if he isn't doing something the way you would because if you critize him you may be detering him from helping with the baby. It's a learning process for both of you. Only intervene if he's putting the diaper on backwards :-)

Request sent to the White House

When I saw this on my friend's blog I had to find out how to get one. I think it'll be such a great keepsake for Addison's baby book. I sent my request last week and can't wait for our letter from the White House to arrive!!

You can request a congratulations card from the President by going to this link.

Disney Princess Car

Addison is in love with her princess car she got for Christmas. She loves playing with all the buttons and listening to all the songs it plays. Every night after she plays with it she'll start making noises and bouncing up and down and that's my cue that she's ready to take it for a spin around the house :-) We usually do a few laps around the house and she's all smiles the entire time.

Fun with Toilet Paper

Yesterday morning while I was in the bathroom getting ready for the day, I heard the infamous sound of the toilet paper unraveling. It was too funny for me to stop her so I just let her play and unravel.

Poor Gizmo was way overdue to go to the groomers. Finally yesterday I was able to get him an appointment. What a difference a day at the groomers makes!!
