I came upon THIS today and thought it was a great article. Some of my fellow mommy friends have used Sophie and just rave about her. I ordered one this week and can't wait for it to arrive!! I'm sure Addison will love her since she loves to chew on everything in sight.
Nicole Ritchie was out and about in West Hollywood with her 10-month old daughter Harlow. Looks like the little baby was a wee bit hungry, and she was in the mood for some vintage giraffe. Harlow took a bite out of Sophie the Giraffe Natural Rubber Safe Baby Infant Teething Toy. The French have been making Sophie since 1961 and it has been a soothing teething toy for generations with over 10 million being sold, and each one is still made by hand.
Six Months ago today our sweet little princess was born. What a wonderful 6 months it has been!!
Poor little Addison woke up with a cold this morning. She was sneezing and has a snotty nose. I'm sure it's because her exposure to the kids at daycare. At her old daycare it was just her and Kara's twin boys. Kara's boys didn't go to school so there was really no germs-at her new daycare there are 5 other kids so she's was bound to catch something...didn't think it'd happen so soon but what can you do. I used the "sucker" this morning and sucked the snot out of her nose which she HATED and screamed but once I was done she seemed to breathe easier. By the time we left the house her nose was running...but at least it's clear so there's no infection. Hopefully she feels better by Saturday.
Addison started at her new home daycare today. We found the lady last week...we had interviewed others but hadn't found any that we really felt comfortable with. I was contemplating staying home with her for a few weeks if we didn't find anyone because I wasn't going to settle for the ones we didn't like. Brian's co-worker recommended this lady and as soon as we met her we felt at ease. It was a huge weight lifted.
When I dropped her off this morning I had the same heart wrenching feeling as I did my first day back to work. She looked confused because it was a new place. It broke my heart because she wouldn't even smile and kept looking at me with those sad eyes. I just spoke to the DC provider and she said that Addison was a little shy for the first 30 minutes but has warmed up and has been laughing and smiling all morning. All the kids are giving her tons of attention since she is the youngest one there so the DC provider said "I hope you don't mind but she's probably going to get spoiled from all the attention" I'm so relieved to hear she's doing well and I can't wait to pick her up after work!!
I asked Kara (Addison's daycare provider/photographer) to take Addison's 6 month pics and some other random photos before she moves. Tomorrow is Addison's last day with her so over the last two weeks she's been taking pics. She gave me this one teaser photo and tomorrow I will get to see the rest...I'm so excited!!
This weekend brought much cooler temps to our area. On Saturday I opened the windows in the house for some fresh air and it was so nice. Yesterday though it was much cooler. I had to go out yesterday and buy Addison some flannel pajamas...and do you think they were easy to find in Florida...Nope! There were TONS of cotton pajamas but not much selection for flannel. Addison is also feeling better and didn't have anymore symptoms of being sick or a fever.
We also found a babysitter this weekend!! We had been interviewing people but never felt 100% sure of them and I was starting to worry because she has to start next Monday. Luckily the lady we interviewed yesterday was GREAT. We both felt like she was a good choice and walked away feeling totally comfortable with having her watch Addison. What a relief!
This weekend Addison got her first fever (minus being born with a fever). Sunday we had went swimming in the pool, out to lunch then while we were at the grocery store Brian said she felt warm. As soon as we got home I took her temp because she felt really hot and it was 101.6. I called and left a message at the Dr's office. I took off her clothes and had her hang out in her diaper. She was crying and lethargic. I felt so bad for her. She just wanted to be held. Brian put a cool washcloth on her forehead and she LOVED it. We gave her some Tylenol and within 30 minutes the fever hadn't started to go down yet so I put her in a cool bath which she HATED. After the cool bath her temp then dropped to 99º She slept for about 1.5 hours. After her nap her temp was still 99º but she seemed more lively. She ate dinner had a bottle then went to bed. She proceeded to wake up every 2 hours moaning and crying. Her temp was back up to 100º We gave her more Tylenol and then called the Dr first thing on Monday morning. By 9am her fever was gone but I still wanted to take her to the Dr to make sure everything was okay. The Dr tested her for RSV and the flu in which the Dr said both tests are only 50% accurate?? She tested negative for both but the Dr said sometimes the fever is the onset and symptoms don't appear for 3-4 days so we are closely monitoring her in hopes that she doesn't get her fever back or any other symptoms. She now weighs 17lbs 9.5oz. The Dr was also impressed that she's sitting up on her own now.
As I've mentioned before, Addison's daycare provider is also a photographer. She did some photos yesterday because Addison will only be going there for 2 more weeks then Kara is moving to Washington. Here are a few pics that she took yesterday.
This weekend we took Addison on some trails on Saturday and a local park, then Sunday we were going to go to Sea World but those plans fell through so we ended up taking Addison to her first trip to the Zoo!! We went to the Jacksonville Zoo and she did so good. At the very end of the day she got a little fussy right before she feel asleep but we were amazed how good she was all day. Here's a few pics.
