Santa Pics

Here's a few pics of Addison with Santa. The first two were taken at Washington Oaks State Park last weekend during their Christmas Celebration and the last one was taken at daycare yesterday when Santa made a surprise visit.

Last week Brian had an interview for a promotion on Tuesday and by Friday afternoon they called offering him the job...the catch was that he had to start this Monday...OMG!! It's in south Florida, about a 2.5 hour drive from where we live. I'm happy that he got the promotion because it's what he's been waiting for and I'm so thankful we are both employed during this recession but now we have very little time to figure everything out. We decided that we should rent our house out because with the housing market the way it is the house could sit vacant for months without selling. Yesterday I listed the house for rent and got 6 calls and set up two appointments to view. One lady is flying in from Colorado today to look at it. Then today so far I've had two inquiries, so I'm crossing my fingers we get it rented.

So now we have to move and more than likely we will be moving the day after Christmas...nothing like waking up on Christmas morning to a house full of packed boxes. Brian will be staying in south Florida while I finish out my employment and stay at my parents Florida home. I really want to find a new job before quitting my current employment...we'll see how that goes. I'm really sad because I really love my job and hate that I'll be leaving. I'm also very overwhelmed with everything...I have to find a new job, move, find daycare, find a new pediatrician, find TRUSTWORTHY renters and the list goes on and on. Luckily I have the next two weeks off of work to use up my PTO time so I'll have plenty of time to iron out details and get all of the packing done. Wish us luck!!

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Tomorrow we leave for Nebraska for Thanksgiving! I'm beyond excited. I love going home and seeing all my family and friends. Mom has been preparing for our arrival for over a month now. She's been buying things for the baby to eliminate us having to pack so much stuff and my cousin is letting us borrow a car seat, stroller, etc. My mom called the other night to let me know she was washing all the outfits she got for Addison for when we are there and she said they barely all fit in the washer...haha...gotta love Nana's spoiling :-)

We have a long day of flying ahead of us. Our first flight is 3 hours, a 2 hour layover and the second flight is 1 hr 45 minutes. I'm hoping she'll sleep for some of it and that Brian and I will be able to keep her content. Being a mother has now made me sympathize with all the mom's with screaming babies on the plane. Wish us Luck!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!!

Shhh...Baby Sleeping

I'm so amazed at what wiggle worms children are when they are asleep. Everynight I put Addison to bed on her back in the middle of the crib and whenever I check on her before going to bed myself she's usually on her side up against the side of the crib but almost always she has to have her head touching a bumper pad side, it must be a "comfort" for her. Every morning I wake up to her laying on her tummy horizontally in her I had to take some pics of her this morning. My little sleepy head.

Another "First"

Last night while Addison was taking a bath she went poo. Yep, poo in the tub. She's not one that takes forever and grunts to poo she does it so discreetly so I thought maybe she was but then I ignored it until I saw a small flake of poo floating in the water. I then picked her up and she had a big cow patty under her butt. Luckily Brian cleaned it up. Eww Eww Eww!!

6 Month Checkup

Yesterday was Addison's 6th month checkup. It was almost two weeks late because I wanted her to get the seasonal flu shot but they were out and not expecting a new shipment in until this week. We arrived and there were TONS of kids at the office-some sick and all the others were there for the H1N1 shot. I had never seen that many kids in there before. The nurse said it was their busiest day of the year. Addison was due to get 3 immunizations and 1 flu shot. The nurse said the max amount of shots you can give an infant at one time is 4, but the Dr said he preferred to do 3 yesterday then she'll come back in 4 weeks for the others. I guess the flu shot has 3 boosters that are to be given every 4 weeks. He was going to give her the 3 regular immunizations and the flu shot next month but I told him we are flying in two weeks and I want her to get at least one dose of the flu shot before then. I opted not to get the H1N1 vaccine because I honestly don't trust the first round of any vaccination. Crossing my fingers that this decision doesn't come back to bite me.

Addison weighs 18lbs 7oz and is 27 3/4 inches. She is in the 90th percentile for height and weight. He said she looks good and has great social skills. She was babbling and smiling the entire time, and when we were in the lobby waiting to be called back she was smiling at everyone and kept saying da-da over and over and over :-). She did so good with her shots. The first shot she whimpered, the second shot nothing and the third shot(flu shot) she did cry but stopped as soon as I picked her up.

The Dr. said to start her on Stage 2 foods. He said do Stage 2 foods from 6-9 months, introduce the Stage 2 meats and juice at 7 months, then Stage 3 foods are from 9-12 months. He said to offer water after each "meal" which a friend recommended to me a month ago so I've been doing via sippy cup and she's been doing really well with it. I'm so thankful that she's healthy and happy!!

Here's a couple of videos of Addison. One is of her drinking from her sippy cup-she gets excited and starts drinking fast so at the end of the video you'll see that she got a little too much water. The second video is of her saying da-da(indirectly).

First Words!!

Addison has been saying da-da for almost a week and this weekend she finally said ma. I was so excited that I teared up when she said it. She usually says da-da indirectly but she was playing with Brian and I walked in the room and she looked at me and said "ma." I just melted.

Time to think about Christmas

So I decided to get things done early this year. I have already purchased one gift for my parents and then I also designed a calendar that I'll be ordering for them. Here is a LINK to preview. I hope they love it.

I also ordered our Christmas photo cards and they arrived yesterday. They turned out so good...I can't wait to send them out!! And shutterfly was offering a great deal if you ordered early. If you order 50 you get 25 for free. I'm all about a great deal!

Christmas is only 50 days away!!!

First Halloween

I swear Addison knew it was Halloween because on Saturday she refused to take a long nap which is so unlike her. So we had two choices-our local supermarket was having "safe trick or treating" or a local church was doing "trunk or treat" Brian suggested to take her to the supermarket because it was hot outside and with her costume she would be sweating the whole time. So off to Publix we went and it was totally lame! They only had candy in three areas of the store and you had to get it yourself-no one was handing it out. So once we left there it had cooled off some so we decided to go to trunk or treat.

Addison decided that the nap she fought all day was sounding pretty tempting and she fell asleep on the way there. So for most of the trunk or treat she was asleep with Brian carrying her and I was collecting the candy :-) We then went home and kept her dressed up so the trick or treaters could see her. Since she's so young we didn't want to take her door to door but next year she'll be walking so we definitely will take her out. And I guess people relate a cow costume to little boys because everyone kept referring to her as a him. Only 2 people out of 10 guessed she was a girl. One guy even asked her name and when we told him "Addison" he replies you are a handsome little It'll be a great story to tell her one day.

Sophie la Giraffe

I came upon THIS today and thought it was a great article. Some of my fellow mommy friends have used Sophie and just rave about her. I ordered one this week and can't wait for it to arrive!! I'm sure Addison will love her since she loves to chew on everything in sight.

Nicole Ritchie was out and about in West Hollywood with her 10-month old daughter Harlow. Looks like the little baby was a wee bit hungry, and she was in the mood for some vintage giraffe. Harlow took a bite out of Sophie the Giraffe Natural Rubber Safe Baby Infant Teething Toy. The French have been making Sophie since 1961 and it has been a soothing teething toy for generations with over 10 million being sold, and each one is still made by hand.

Happy 6 Months!!

Six Months ago today our sweet little princess was born. What a wonderful 6 months it has been!!

Poor little Addison woke up with a cold this morning. She was sneezing and has a snotty nose. I'm sure it's because her exposure to the kids at daycare. At her old daycare it was just her and Kara's twin boys. Kara's boys didn't go to school so there was really no germs-at her new daycare there are 5 other kids so she's was bound to catch something...didn't think it'd happen so soon but what can you do. I used the "sucker" this morning and sucked the snot out of her nose which she HATED and screamed but once I was done she seemed to breathe easier. By the time we left the house her nose was running...but at least it's clear so there's no infection. Hopefully she feels better by Saturday.

New Daycare

Addison started at her new home daycare today. We found the lady last week...we had interviewed others but hadn't found any that we really felt comfortable with. I was contemplating staying home with her for a few weeks if we didn't find anyone because I wasn't going to settle for the ones we didn't like. Brian's co-worker recommended this lady and as soon as we met her we felt at ease. It was a huge weight lifted.

When I dropped her off this morning I had the same heart wrenching feeling as I did my first day back to work. She looked confused because it was a new place. It broke my heart because she wouldn't even smile and kept looking at me with those sad eyes. I just spoke to the DC provider and she said that Addison was a little shy for the first 30 minutes but has warmed up and has been laughing and smiling all morning. All the kids are giving her tons of attention since she is the youngest one there so the DC provider said "I hope you don't mind but she's probably going to get spoiled from all the attention" I'm so relieved to hear she's doing well and I can't wait to pick her up after work!!

Tomorrow is Addison's last day with her so over the last two weeks she's been taking pics. She gave me this one teaser photo and tomorrow I will get to see the rest...I'm so excited!!

The cold weather has arrived

This weekend brought much cooler temps to our area. On Saturday I opened the windows in the house for some fresh air and it was so nice. Yesterday though it was much cooler. I had to go out yesterday and buy Addison some flannel pajamas...and do you think they were easy to find in Florida...Nope! There were TONS of cotton pajamas but not much selection for flannel. Addison is also feeling better and didn't have anymore symptoms of being sick or a fever.

We also found a babysitter this weekend!! We had been interviewing people but never felt 100% sure of them and I was starting to worry because she has to start next Monday. Luckily the lady we interviewed yesterday was GREAT. We both felt like she was a good choice and walked away feeling totally comfortable with having her watch Addison. What a relief!

Sick Baby

This weekend Addison got her first fever (minus being born with a fever). Sunday we had went swimming in the pool, out to lunch then while we were at the grocery store Brian said she felt warm. As soon as we got home I took her temp because she felt really hot and it was 101.6. I called and left a message at the Dr's office. I took off her clothes and had her hang out in her diaper. She was crying and lethargic. I felt so bad for her. She just wanted to be held. Brian put a cool washcloth on her forehead and she LOVED it. We gave her some Tylenol and within 30 minutes the fever hadn't started to go down yet so I put her in a cool bath which she HATED. After the cool bath her temp then dropped to 99º She slept for about 1.5 hours. After her nap her temp was still 99º but she seemed more lively. She ate dinner had a bottle then went to bed. She proceeded to wake up every 2 hours moaning and crying. Her temp was back up to 100º We gave her more Tylenol and then called the Dr first thing on Monday morning. By 9am her fever was gone but I still wanted to take her to the Dr to make sure everything was okay. The Dr tested her for RSV and the flu in which the Dr said both tests are only 50% accurate?? She tested negative for both but the Dr said sometimes the fever is the onset and symptoms don't appear for 3-4 days so we are closely monitoring her in hopes that she doesn't get her fever back or any other symptoms. She now weighs 17lbs 9.5oz. The Dr was also impressed that she's sitting up on her own now.
